DIY to make a skirt elastic belt

First, have the quantity you need to make your elastic belt.

1. Sew both edges together to have a belt. Start a straight stitch 2 cm from the edge and then flip the belt and sew the edges exceeding (see the image below) to have a very flat elastic belt when the skirt is worn.

2. Now you can start sewing the choosen fabric on the belt. Place your elastic belt with the ruffles on top (see the image below) and then place your fabric inside the belt, right side against right side. You'll sew your elastic belt and the fabric together and stitch on the ruffle starting by the center back. Pull a bit the elastic band while you're sewing to adjust the size difference between both fabrics.

3. For a perfect finish, make a hem by tilting the edge of the fabric (see the image below). NB : make a zigzag stitch to keep the belt elasticity ! Et voilà ! The job is done and you now have an unique and personalized skirt !
