What is beeswax?

Beeswax has been used since the dawn of time. Soft to the touch and pleasantly scented, it is non-toxic for humans and the environment. It is a yellowish substance secreted by the bees, which make the rays of their hives. It is a rather rare product: to obtain 300 g of wax, bees produce between 2 and 7.5 kg of honey. This wax is harvested at the end of the season and is obtained without solvent, by centrifugation and separation of honey by boiling water. Soft to the touch and pleasantly scented, beeswax is unique for its film-forming, moisturizing, protective and anti-static qualities as well as for its cleansing properties. It goes into the development of many products such as candles, wood products ... It liquefies at 64 ° C.

Advantages :

  • Guaranteed without pesticide residue
  • Low carbon index (45)
  • Non-toxic to humans and the environment
  • Can be stored for several years away from heat
  • Production and packaging in Western Europe.
  • Packaged in recycled kraft.

Waterproof your fabrics in a natural way!

Beeswax makes it possible, among other things, to make "Bee Wrap". These wraps now replace aluminum or food film to preserve your food. It's practical and ecological! Beeswax stiffens the fabric that can take the desired shape through the warmth of the hand.

How to make your bee wrap?

Do not choose a fabric that is too thin and prefer a rather dark fabric. We also advise you to choose organic fabrics or OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified fabrics. You will need baking paper to make your bee wrap (which you can reuse, so keep it!).

  • iron your fabric well
  • preheat your oven to 80 ° C
  • place the baking paper on the baking sheet and then your fabric on it
  • sprinkle evenly with the beeswax chips (do not cover completely), you can always add more if necessary (the contrary is more complicated!)
  • bake then wait until the wax is melted (it will penetrate both sides of the fabric)
  • when the wax is melted, quickly remove the fabric by holding it by the corners, the wax will quickly cool down!
