What is a sewing gauge?

A sewing gauge allows you to measure short lengths on patterns and fabrics. It allows you to check and control sewing and quilting jobs quickly, without having to look exactly at the centimeters. The gauge does not slip on the fabric like the tape measure, it stays in place and it is more accurate for short lengths (less than 10 cm).
