Tightly twisted wool, suitable for pin gauges 3 - 3,5 mm, gives the best results.

If the wool is not of a very good quality, for example if the wool is somewhat coarse, it will not glide so well which can lead to malfunctions. This also applies to very fibrous or fluffy wool such as mohair.
