The manufacturing process of this waxed cotton fabric was invented in the United Kingdom by John Barbour at the end of the 19th century in the English harbours made with remains of cotton sails ships. This oiled fabric has seduced for its strength, longevity. It will be quickly adopted by the English aristocracy for outdoor activities: hunting, fishing, horse riding; it has become a classic for clothing resistant to wind, dust and rain.
This waxed cotton canvas is thick and resistant: use special Jeans needles and polyester threads for the creations of your clothes and accessories. Prefer a gentle cleaning with a brush to remove the dirtiness and a light cleaning with a sponge in cold water. If necessary, apply wax to oil the fabric again with a brush.
